The report at the St. Petersburg road construction business forum was devoted to the use of MGTS GEOIZOL-MP and methods of strengthening the foundations.

In his speech, the chief designer of GEOIZOL Project told about the use of the multifunctional geotechnical system (MGTS) GEOIZOL-MP as a load-bearing element in road transport construction, as well as the use of crushed stone piles for strengthening of the road foundation soils.

GEOIZOL-MP ground anchors and dowels are widely used in engineering road protection projects, where they are used as fasteners for retaining walls, pressure plates, anti-erosion coatings and other structural elements.

The company “GEOIZOL Project” has a solid experience in this area, and presented its best developments in the “Album of typical solutions for engineering protection of territories”.

Among the latest large-scale projects, the P260 Tavrida highway should be mentioned. At the 7th stage, the work has already been completed in full. At the next 8th stage, the construction goes into the active phase.

GEOIZOL-MP, produced by the «Pushkin Machine-Building Plant» (part of the GEOIZOL Group of Companies), has a wide range of applications. MGTS is in demand in the construction of pile foundations, in cases where work must be performed in confined conditions. Ivan Bogdanov told about such an experience using the example of a number of St. Petersburg facilities.

So, due to the location between the railway tracks, the foundation of the pillar 12 of the overpass in the area of the Ruchyi station was decided to be erected on a pile foundation using GEOIZOL-MP bored piles. A similar solution was used by the builders of the overhead pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Prospekt Slavy  and Budapest Street when constructing a pillar located in the middle of an eight-lane highway.

The second topic of the report was devoted to the effective solution for strengthening of the foundation soils of highways by using  crushed stone piles by the vibrocompaction method.

The technology has been successfully applied at a number of large infrastructure facilities – during the construction of the Crimean Bridge, the Central Ring Road (TsKAD), the M-11 Moscow – St. Petersburg highway, the M-10 “Scandinavia” highway and others.

The Institute for the Development of Foreign Economic Relations “IRVEN ” was the organizer of the St. Petersburg road construction business forum 2020 “Innovative technologies and materials in road construction. Ensuring the safety and quality of roads ”, which took place on December 1-3, 2020 in the Northern capital. The event was attended by specialists from Siberia, the Far East, central and southern regions of Russia.
